Certified by virtually all major OEMs, JyTech Polymers’ JyPrene™ TPV is superior in versatility as well as in performance. As the core ingredient in all JyTech high performance TPV compounds, JyPrene™ TPV allows each customer to specify its own unique grades without having to go through the process of getting new OEM approvals.
JyTech recently developed revolutionary cure technology that increases the cross-linking efficiency of JyPrene™ TPV by 20% over competitive TPVs. The greater proportion of EPDM to polypropylene keeps raw material costs down while allowing for customizable formulations that can further enhance the elasticity, durability and aesthetics of each finished part. It can also improve processing efficiency by as much as 10%.
Extrudes like plastic, feels as soft as rubber, and overcomes EPDM’s
historic issues with noise, closing effort and long-term durability.
Unlike open cell EPDM, closed cell JySoft™ extruded TPV sponge rubber is virtually
moisture-proof (<.1% absorption). It is as soft and flexible as rubber, yet forms
with the ease and economies of plastic. JySoft™ overcomes EPDM’s historic issues with sound transmission, closing effort and long-term durability, not to mention environmental concerns. It consistently logs higher sealing integrity with lower closing forces, and superior performance in slam, vibration and cycle load
tests measuring wear abrasion on seals and painted panels.
Traditional EPDM compound actually contains no more than 35% EPDM. The rest is carbon black filler and an average of 15 other additives. Ironically, high performance TPV contains more EPDM than does EPDM compound. For example, JySoft™ TPV
is 80% EPDM.
Unlike compounded EPDM, JySoft™ contains no ingredients that will leach,
bloom or migrate to the surface. EPDM foam compounds average 18 additives; JySoft™ averages three.
JyPrene™ corner moldings offer excellent bond strength, aesthetics
and reduced sound transmission.
JyPrene™ TPV reduces the coefficient of friction (COF) of the injection molded corners
to slide force nearly identical to that of the extrusions. It is ideal for glass run channel and body mounted seals that require the molded detail of a 3D surface. JyPrene™ corner moldings meet or exceed OEM expectations in all categories, including achieving joint strength that exceeds cohesive failure. JyPrene™ TPV
also exceeds OEM aesthetic requirements for color match and gloss level
between the molded and extruded components, without EPDM’s
long-term blooming and bleaching issues.
This uniquely smoother, faster flowing TPV has been
specially formulated for injection molding.
JyTech Polymers’ revolutionary curing technology has enabled the development
of a special grade of TPV that accelerates injection molding production by flowing
up to 10% faster than competitive compounds. The elasticity and durability
of the finished parts are superior as well.
JyRTPV™ utilizes reground EPDM from recycled tires – a bulk contributor to landfills
– in extruded TPV for select automotive weathersealing systems.
As reprocessed tire rubber, no recompounding is required for JyRTPV™,
and scrap from its processing into TPV is recyclable. The TPV production process itself is free of VOCs and particulate emissions characteristic of EPDM processing. JyRTPV™ parts are usually black in color, but they are all as green as can be.
